Rio de Janeiro The former Brazilian Capital

Rio de Janeiro the capital city of the State of Rio de Janeiro is the second largest city of Brazil, and sixth largest in the Americas. For about two centuries it remained the capital of Brazil. It is the most visited city in the southern hemisphere and is famous for beaches like Barra da Tijuca, Iapanema, Leblon and Copacabana. Another attraction is the giant statue of Christ the Redeemer and the most of all the carnival celebrations.
